Co-Occurring Disorder Program

Each program that Abria Recovery provides is designed to meet the needs of individuals who have two or more DSM-5 diagnoses with at least one being a Substance Use Disorder and the other is a Mood or Anxiety Disorder. The Co-Occurring Disorders program places an emphasis on treating both conditions at the same time.

Abria Recovery utilizes SAMHSA TIP 42- Substance Abuse Treatment for Persons with Co-Occurring Disorders. This module reviews techniques, mainly from the substance abuse field, that have been found to be especially useful in the treatment of clients with co-occurring disorders. It also illustrates the application to practice using case studies from the TIP 42 text.

The following are among the most common co-occurring mental health disorders:

  • Anxiety Disorders

  • Depressive Disorders

  • Bipolar Disorders

  • Personality Disorders

  • Adjustment Disorders

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Throughout our various levels of care, our counselors provide services using evidence-based treatments. Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotional Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy have all been shown by carefully controlled studies to be effective in treating addiction and other Psychiatric Disorders. We make every effort to use only interventions that have been proven to be effective.

Abria Recovery has specialized and highly trained alcohol and drug counselors and mental health providers that hold valid licenses in the state of Minnesota.
